Gregg Kreutz Painting Demo — American Artists Professional League

I was delighted to be invited to the American Artists Professional League 85th Grand National awards ceremony yesterday. This was my first time attending a AAPL event, and I enjoyed the pleasant variety of activities. First and foremost was the impressive painting demonstration by master artist, Gregg Kreutz. Not only did he skillfully render the model in a surprisingly short about of time, but he also kept the audience engaged with his painting insights and sharp wit. After Kreutz’s demo the members enjoyed appetizers and wine while they submitted their bids in the silent action for Kreutz’s painting. Then there was a live performance by Maurice and Molly Stern. Molly is a talented Soprano and concert pianist and Maurice is a tenor, formerly of the MET Opera. And to conclude the reception we watched a slideshow of the paintings from the competition as the winning artists walked on stage to receive their awards.

The highlight for me was when my friend, Nanci France-Vaz, won Kreutz’s painting in the silent action as well as coming away with an award for her own beautiful painting, “The Wish.”
