Pet Portrait Painting: 3-Day Workshop Online

Three Sessions: August 12, 14, and 16, 2024.
7:00pm – 9:30pm EDT

Join us for a 3-session Zoom class led by Stephanie Deshpande, where you’ll learn to capture the unique expression and likeness of your dog, cat, or other furry friend using oil paints. You can choose to work from a photo of your own pet or follow along with Stephanie’s reference photo of her Persian cat. In this workshop, you will focus on capturing the distinctive features and personality of your pet, learn techniques for blocking in the composition directly on the canvas, measure landmarks, and mass in large value areas. You will also understand comparative measurement, values, edges, and color relationships, and explore glazing techniques to enhance depth and luminosity in your paintings. Participants will receive a digital handbook, access to recorded sessions, and personalized feedback via email. This workshop is suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced artists.

I am looking for a pencil sketch class of dogs. I am “almost” in my ability.. but need help to slide over to got it! Do you offer an online workshop such as this? Or even offer private class?

        Hi Tammy,
Sorry for the delayed response! This summer, I’m planning a pet portrait workshop focused on painting a dog. Have you tried oil paint? I find it quicker and easier than drawing. I also offer online private lessons if you’re interested.

        Best,
        Stephanie

Stephanie thanks for reply! I’d love to have like a 45 min online consultation… where you can critique and offer next step advice. I do pencil instead of oils as it is an easy pick up and stop medium for me. I do oils when I have time. Please let me know if available for a consultation! And I’ll look forward to an actual class this summer.

Hum.. this might be a duplicate. I got a crazy message when I hit submit. Thanks for your response. I would love to have a 45 min or so online consultation so you could critique and offer next step advice. I do pencil sketch drawings as it is easier for me to pick up and put down. I do paint with oils but prefer the ease of pencil for now. Look forward to summer class! Is an online consultation something you would consider?
