Stephanie Deshpande will lead a 5-week Zoom class focused on capturing the beauty of roses using oil paint. Participants will develop the skills to portray these delicate flowers, with an emphasis on the interplay of light and shadow. The course will delve into the techniques for painting roses in greater depth. The focus will be on painting one or two garden roses on a smaller panel, with each painting taking approximately two weeks. Techniques such as blocking in the composition directly on the canvas, measuring landmarks, and massing in large value areas will be covered. Comparative measurement, values, edges, and color relationships will be explained. Glazing techniques will be discussed to enhance depth and luminosity in the paintings. Participants will receive a digital handbook, access to recorded sessions, and personalized feedback via email. All levels are welcome to join.
