I am so excited to participate in Single Fare 4 this year! In 2013, I went to Single Fare 3 and was amazed by the transformation of hundreds of expired Metrocards into beautiful works of art. The walls were covered, and the gallery was packed liked a subway car during rush hour.
Each metro card sells for $100; $30 of each sale will be donated to the NYAA (my alma mater). These small gems look beautiful matted and framed, making for a great gift idea. They are also a wonderful way to collect art by your favorite artists at an affordable price. Just make sure you choose your piece quickly before someone else snaps it up!
